Perl testing helps you write code that works as expected. You follow a simple cycle called TDD which stands for red, green, refactor. First you write a test that fails. Then you write just enough code to pass the test. Finally you improve the code while keeping the test passing.

The two main testing tools are Test::More and the newer Test2::V0. Test::More comes with Perl and is good for basic checks. Test2::V0 gives you richer comparisons and better error messages. Both help you catch bugs early.

You also use the prove command to run your tests and Devel::Cover to see which parts of your code are tested. This skill teaches you everything you need to build reliable Perl software.
