Apple's new PaperKit framework makes it easy to add a consistent markup experience to your apps. It powers the markup tools in Notes, Screenshots, and QuickLook. Developers can use PaperMarkupViewController to embed a system-standard markup canvas in any app.
With PaperKit you can add drawings, shapes, and text annotations to documents. It combines PencilKit drawing with structured markup elements on a single canvas. This gives users a familiar and powerful toolset for annotation.
PaperKit is available in iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, and visionOS 26. It requires Swift 6.3 and the latest Apple SDK. You can integrate it with UIKit, AppKit, or SwiftUI for a seamless markup experience.
